Almost a year after the coronavirus pandemic began, Kelly Dodd still doesn’t understand why masks are important.
Dodd, 45, admitted during the “Real Housewives of Orange County” meeting that his stance on protecting himself and others from COVID-19 has not changed much.
“Well, I hate wearing a mask,” she told Andy Cohen in a preview of the next meeting. “I think everyone is in this with me. I’m going to wear them because I have to, but do your pants protect you from a fart? Like, is that helping? Are the masks helping? I do not know.”
Gina Kirschenheiter, Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Shannon Beador seemed disgusted by his admission.
“Kelly, I know that Braunwyn gave an interview when he said that you weren’t taking COVID seriously and that a lot of people expressed it on social media,” Cohen pressed her. “What is your reaction to that?”
Without hesitating, she replied: “I said some things that I regret. I feel bad for anyone who has lost loved ones. I think it’s awful. I think it’s awful. Did I take this seriously? Yes, but I was also frustrated. “
Cohen then asked how many trips she made during the first six weeks of the block. She did not say how many times she traveled across the country to New York, but said she would often do business with her now husband, Rick Leventhal.
Dodd was attacked for the first time in April for calling the coronavirus “God’s way of reducing the herd”. She apologized for her comment shortly after and said in a December episode of “Watching what happens live with Andy Cohen” that she regretted saying so after her mother was hospitalized with COVID-19.
Then, in May, she compared the coronavirus to the flu and joked: “But how many people die daily? … Well, people are going to die! I’m sorry to tell you. “
She also boasted that same month that she and her family did not wear masks for dinner at a restaurant because “no one is dying” in Orange County.
She did not apologize for making the false statement, instead, she resorted to social media to say: “I was by no means minimizing the deaths caused by this virus and I feel sorry for your loved ones. However, Orange County has 133 deaths in 3 million people – far less than most. “
