Kelly Clarkson plans her first perfect Valentine’s Day date with herself since the breakup: ‘We don’t need someone by our side to live our best lives’
She is currently involved in a divorce from her ex-husband and father of her two children.
But Kelly Clarkson chose to focus on the positive on Friday, when she hosted an episode of her Valentine’s Day talk show aimed at celebrating single women.
Singer Miss Independent, 38, welcomed comedian Kym Whitley into the studio, along with Roseanne star Sarah Chalke, via video.

During the episode, the theme of the perfect date with yourself on Valentine’s Day came up, and each star shared his ideas with some audience members.
“We all know that we don’t need someone on our side to live our best lives,” said Clarkson.
“To this day, I am a mother of little ones, so I literally love having a glass of wine, lighting the fireplace in my room,” she also shared.
“We all know that we don’t need someone by our side to live our best lives,” Clarkson said in the episode.
Then she added, ‘… and I read a book or watch some Netflix. Or I literally just go out with my girls. I love that.’
Chalke, for his part, reflected on how much he loves going out with his friends, something he misses during the pandemic.
And Whitley exaggerated, describing how her ideal date with herself involved sending her son away so she could pick up her ‘toys’ and curl up under a blanket in front of the TV.
Later on the show, Kelly was asked by an audience member, ‘What is something that you pretended to be cool and was not cool during a relationship?’
‘Oh …,’ the American Idol champion said, before hesitating and looking at his guests to go first.
But later she shared: ‘I dated this guy, and I think because I’m a singer and songwriter, if you date people, they think,’ Oh, I’m going to write a song for her. ‘
“And … don’t do that,” Clarkson concluded, revealingly.

Kelly is in the middle of a divorce with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares daughter River Rose, six, and son Remington Alexander, four.
She filed for divorce from the talent manager on June 4 last year.
In a previous episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show, the Grammy winner admitted that co-parenting Blackstock was ‘difficult’.
‘It’s difficult … I know that with me and Brandon, it’s just a difficult thing because we’re in different places, and it’s like, we both agree on the main things, but it’s a difficult thing when we’re not all together the time, for me personally, ‘she recently told guest Khloe Kardashian.
