This is Kelly’s first interview with a first lady, although the daytime talk show is only up for the second season, having premiered on September 9, 2019 to replace Steve Harvey’s eponymous speech.

But his program was immediately a huge success, quickly becoming the most watched new daytime talk show in seven years.

In addition to airing in the United States, it also airs on other networks in Canada, Norway and New Zealand, and has already been renewed for a third and fourth seasons.

He won three daytime Emmys in 2020, including Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for Clarkson, and was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award for two consecutive years.

In December, the show’s audience was so high that it tied with Ellen DeGeneres in third place on talk shows, according to TV News Check, behind only Live with Kelly and Ryan and Dr. Phil.

In fact, Page Six reported last month that Kelly’s program could fill Ellen’s 3 pm schedule.

Although Kelly did not explicitly endorse President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, she shared her political opinion in the past, including her disgust for Donald Trump.

In 2016, when fellow musician Bette Midler tweeted, ‘How can we live with a POTUS for four years that says things like’ I could walk down Fifth Avenue, shoot someone and still not lose any votes? ‘- Kelly replied:’ I am legitimately afraid for our nation. ‘

Overall, however, his public political views have been quite mixed. Coming from a red county near Fort Worth, Texas, she said before the 2012 election: ‘I will probably vote for Obama again, even though I am a Republican at heart’.

She told the Daily Star that she couldn’t vote for Mitt Romney because of her stance against equality in marriage, saying, ‘I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair that they can’t get married.’

She also sang in the hands of former President Barack Obama and performed on Michelle Obama’s song ‘This Is for My Girls’.

However, she also expressed support for former Texas US representative Ron Paul in 2012, tweeting that she ‘loves’ the libertarian politician.

“I liked him very much during the last Republican nomination and nobody gave him a chance,” she said. ‘If he wins the Republican party nomination in 2012, he will have my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.

As for the first lady, sitting with the first season’s American Idol winner has a slightly different tone than Melania Trump did when she gave her first solo interview to MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski on February 24, 2017 – although both chose interviewers for the occasion.

Speaking to Mika four years ago, Melania said: ‘Do I agree with him all the time? No. I tell him my opinions, sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn’t.

She also insisted at the time that he treated both sexes equally.

‘I see him in life, he treats women the same as men. He will tell you what is in your heart, what he thinks. He will not contain himself if you are a woman, you are human. If you are a woman or a man, it is no different, you are human, ‘she said.

Although Jill hasn’t granted a solo interview yet, she has been doing solo projects since her husband took office.

Earlier this month, she recruited two canine helpers to help encourage Americans to mask themselves in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In a PSA featuring the beloved champion and major of the family’s German shepherds, the 69-year-old teacher asked her fellow pet owners to protect themselves against COVID-19 using a facial cover, insisting that they “owe it” to your pets to stay healthy.

PSA aired during the 17th annual Puppy Bowl.

“For many of us during this pandemic, our pets have been a source of joy and comfort, and perhaps a bark or two on the video conference,” she said.

“A dog’s unconditional love is one of the most beautiful things on earth – and we owe it to them to keep us healthy,” she said. ‘So, please continue to wear your mask, even when walking your dog.’
