Kellogg cereal straws returning to the shelves after 12 years in the fall

Kellogg’s cereal straws are returning to popular demand after more than a decade off store shelves, the company announced on Thursday.

“Kellogg is responding to the superfans’ petition and calls from social media to bring back their iconic Kellogg Cereal Straws,” said Kellogg in a statement shared with USA TODAY. “After a 12-year hiatus, Kellogg’s cereal straws, which induce nostalgia, are revived in two flavors: Kellogg’s Froot Loops and Kellogg’s Cocoa Krispies.”

The food giant’s move came as a result of a 4-year petition created by Change.org user Hannah Wade.

“Froot Loops cereal straws were discontinued in 2009,” wrote Wade in the petition’s description. “People all over the world seem to miss this delicious treat from our childhood. Bringing back Fruit Loops Cereals Straws would bring joy to my generation and to future generations.”

The petition had more than 81,000 signatures by Saturday afternoon – more than enough to catch the company’s attention.

Kellogg’s Cereal Straws will be available from October with a suggested price of R $ 1 for five straws, R $ 3 for 18 straws and R $ 5 for 24 straws.
