Keith Urban, Barry Gibb’s team on ‘I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You’

Barry Gibb and Keith Urban find themselves in a film version of the Bee Gees’ hit “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You”. The song is one of a dozen new collaborations between single brother Gibb and country artists, Americana and bluegrass.

Urban’s voice is the first to greet listeners in this new version of the 1960s hit, his layered vocals with a piano studio set and light strings. Together, the two tell the story of a man awaiting execution and who wants to send yet another message to his wife before leaving this land.

Urban is accompanied by Gibb on the second verse before joining forces on the final chorus. There, they sing passionately, “I just have to send you a message / Wait, wait / Another hour and my life will end / Wait, wait / I just have to send a message to her / Wait, wait in. “

Written by Gibb and his brothers Robin and Maurice, “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You” was released in 1968 and reached number 1 in several countries, giving Bee Gees their first Top 10 hit in the United States when it reached its peak in No. 8 in the Advertising panel Hot 100.

In addition to Urban, featured on Gibb’s new collaborative album green fields are Dolly Parton – who recorded Bee Gees ‘iconic “Islands in the Stream” with Kenny Rogers and joined Gibb for “Words” – Miranda Lambert (“Jive Talkin'”) and Little Big Town (“Lonely Days), among others, Gibb says that after being introduced to modern country music, he knew he had found his new musical home.

“I just felt that country music was really what was inside me. [My son, Steven Gibb] played me a Chris Stapleton track and it destroyed me, “he shares with Weekly entertainment. “I thought, ‘This is my place. This is a new era, and I’m not that other person anymore. Now I can follow what I love most, which are real, country, bluegrass songs – I just love them. It’s time to do what I love and not what everyone asks me to do. ‘”
