Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton are named hosts of the ACM Awards

Country musicians Mickey Guyton and Keith Urban were named hosts for the 56th annual edition of the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs).

With the announcement on Thursday by ACM, dick clark productions and CBS, Guyton will make history as the first black woman to receive the country award. The show will air on CBS on April 18 at three Nashville venues.

Guyton will also perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where he will sing his nominated single, “Black Like Me”, which was nominated for best country solo performance. She is also the first black solo artist to receive a Grammy nomination in a country category.

“Over the years, the Academy of Country Music has always been a home to me through opportunities on stage and through its work on diversity and inclusion,” said Guyton in a statement. “This is a moment of great significance for me and I am very excited to share it with all the fans.”
