Microsoft has recognized that two recent Windows 10 updates are causing problems for users. People who installed KB4598299 and KB4598301 are reporting BSoDs, as well as application crashes.
The two updates (released on Windows 10 versions 1909, 2004 and 20H2) were supposed to solve problems in .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8, but they – as is increasingly common with Windows updates – introduced their own problems.

Among the affected applications is Visual Studio, which is causing developers headaches. Other problems can be found in the Windows Presentation Foundation, which is reaching several applications.
Writing in the Visual Studio forums in response to user complaints, Microsoft indicated that the problem would be resolved soon. The company said:
A fix for this issue has been implemented internally and is being prepared for release. We will update it as soon as it is available for download.
For now, the only real solution is to uninstall KB4598299 or KB4598301 via the Settings app on Windows 10, although possible workarounds have also been suggested in the Visual Studio forums.
