Kayleigh McEnany joins Fox News

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany will officially join Fox News, the network announced on Tuesday.

The news, which was announced by Fox News presenter Harris Faulkner, comes after weeks during which the network had been wrong about McEnany’s role on the network. It was not clear what his role in the company will be.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Kayleigh McEnany into the Fox family,” said Faulkner. “We will see much more of it.”

A Fox News spokesman declined to comment beyond Faulkner’s statements.

McEnany, a former CNN contributor, was a spokesman for Trump’s reelection campaign in 2020 and assumed the role of press secretary for the White House last spring. She told reporters when she took office, “I will never lie to you.”

That promise quickly became the subject of criticism, as McEnany routinely defended and promoted misleading statements made by then President Donald Trump. McEnany proved to be one of Trump’s most fervent supporters during the election, with Fox News at one point cutting a press conference she gave in early November in which she made false allegations of voting irregularities.

McEnany is the last person to walk through the revolving door between Fox News and the Trump White House: Sarah Sanders, another former press secretary, joined Fox News before leaving to try to run for the Arkansas government. Larry Kudlow, former Trump economic director, recently joined the Fox Business Network, where he presents his own program. Hope Hicks, longtime director of communications for Trump, also joined Fox News’s parent company Fox Corp. in 2018 to serve as executive vice president and director of communications. She later returned to the Trump White House.
