The 42-year-old actress admitted to ET Online that she did not watch the episode of Season 16, Leave a Light On, which aired last March on ABC: ‘I didn’t see it.’

He sees Alex leaving his wife Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) in Seattle, when he reunites with his ex Izzie (who doesn’t actually appear in the episode) to raise his twins at a horse farm in Kansas.

– Wasn’t he with someone? Heigl asked after being updated on the episode’s plot, adding, ‘Listen, isn’t that a stupid move?’

It came after host Krista Vernoff defended the choice of TVLine last April: ‘At the end of the day, there were three choices. Kill Alex off camera; that Alex is alive and in Seattle – and still married to Jo – and we will never see him; or [reunite him] with Izzie. ‘

And while the current season has seen fan favorites like Patrick Dempsey and TR Knight return for cameos, Heigl doesn’t seem interested in returning.

She said of her new show Firefly Lane: ‘I’m super focused on this show and my passion for it. I would never say never, but it is not likely.

Heigl starred in the first six seasons of the show, before his priorities shifted to raising his newly adopted daughter, Nancy Leigh, in September 2009.

She told Entertainment Weekly in 2010 that she asked to be canceled after returning from parental leave: ‘That was really the turning point for me.

‘So, before I came back, I spoke again with [creator] Shonda [Rhimes] about wanting to leave. So, I waited at home until I received formal approval that I was out of the program. The rumors that I refused to return were completely false.

Vernoff told her side of the story to the Los Angeles Times last November: ‘There was a resolution to Izzie’s story. We had planned for her to come back for an episode to really tie Izzie and Alex up.

‘And I wrote that episode, and it was beautiful. The day before I started preparing or filming, I don’t remember, we got a call that Katie wouldn’t be coming. It just wasn’t coming. I wasn’t going to do that. ‘

Actress Knocked Up cleared the air in 2016, revealing that she sat down with Rhimes after her words circulated in the press.

She said to Howard Stern: ‘I came in because I was so ashamed. So I went to [see] Shonda said, “I’m sorry. That was not nice and I shouldn’t have said that.”

– And I shouldn’t have said anything publicly. But at the time, I thought that no one would notice … I just didn’t present it and then it became a story, and I felt compelled to make my statement, and [I should have just said], “Shut up, Katie.” ‘
