Kate Middleton’s uncle says he doesn’t believe Meghan Markle’s crying claims

Kate Middleton’s uncle said he does not “believe for a moment” that she made Meghan Markle cry.

Gary Goldsmith said he had known the Duchess of Cambridge for a lifetime and the allegations made by his sister-in-law during the bombastic chat with Oprah Winfrey “are simply not in her nature”

The former Hollywood actress said she was brought to tears during a fight that preceded her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018.

In the months that followed, there were reports that Meghan had upset Kate in an argument during a bridesmaid dress show.

But she told Oprah that it was actually the other way around, before accusing some members of the Royal Family of lying to protect Kate, but not her.

Mr Goldsmith, 55, Kate’s mother’s brother, Carole, told The Mail on Sunday: “I can’t believe for a moment that Kate made Meghan cry.”

Speaking for the first time since the accusations aired on CBS on March 7, he said: “If anyone had a cry attack, it must have been Meghan.

“Kate would have tried to make amends. I would fight for Kate’s honor until the day of my death. She is the most spectacular person I have ever met.”

When asked by Oprah about Kate’s reports of tears, the Duchess of Sussex said, “The reverse has happened. I don’t say that to disparage anyone.”

She added that Kate later apologized to her and there is no ill will between them.

Meghan said he struggled with the reaction after initial reports of the confrontation.

“What was difficult to overcome was to be blamed for something that not only did I not do, but that happened to me,” she added.

Writing at Harper’s Bazaar earlier this month, royal correspondent Omid Scobie said Meghan had sent an email to Kensington Palace asking them to address the incident with Kate.

He said that she asked a royal aide to help her “clear things up” at the time and was told that they would not drag Kate into “idle gossip”.
