Channeling the energy “My single ‘My Single Is Dropping’ is falling”, SNLKate McKinnon from The Drop Out, Hulu’s next limited series on the failed startup Theranos, in which McKinnon was to play Silicon Valley sweetheart Elizabeth Holmes. Deadline reports that McKinnon gave up on the project in which she was hired as executive producer and star since the series was announced in 2019 and received a direct order from the streaming platform. Although McKinnon is no longer playing an iconically troubled blonde woman, she is still on to play Carole Baskin on the NBCUniversal series Joe Exotic. The Drop Out, based on the eponymous podcast, is reportedly advancing without McKinnon and is looking for a new star to play the prodigy since he is currently awaiting trial on dozens of fraud charges and could face up to 20 years in prison. Which leads to the following question: which actress can hit Holmes ‘contralto and Steve Jobs’ cosplay. Emma Stone is busy living her Hot Topic fantasy in Cruella, and Jennifer Lawrence is already linked to a biopic about Holmes, so the two are out, but someone should definitely get Anya Taylor-Joy on the phone as soon as possible.
