Kat Dennings said a bizarre audition with Nicolas Cage was one of the “best memories” of his life.

Dennings, who is starring in Marvel’s “WandaVision”, told Variety that he was in the final test for a role in a “very dramatic” film that ended up being nominated for a ton of Oscars and was directed by an “extremely famous director.”

The scene she was auditioning involved her being physically restrained by the actor in the film, who happened to be Cage. Dennings said that all the dialogues in the scene revolved around his character trying to get away from Cage’s character. But things did not go as planned.

“I’m ready to step in like the physicality of the scene, but I realized very quickly that that actor is not going to touch me. He also won’t be near me. He was across the room, which seemed to be his choice,” said Dennings , noting that she was “very young” at the time.

Nicolas Cage was nominated for two Oscars in his life, winning the best actor for “Leaving Las Vegas” at the 68th Oscar in 1996.

“I was like, ‘I’m going to be imitating this.’ So, a scene where I am asking to be released and physically squirming from this man’s clutches became a mime session. But I understand and respect that the actor has made that decision. But at the time, it wasn’t great because I was like, ‘I look like an absolute idiot. I don’t understand this. ‘ “

Dennings said that while the audition was not what she expected, she still enjoyed the experience with Cage, who she says is one of her favorite actors of all time.

“I’m actually really grateful for this experience just because I wanted to be in a room with Nicolas Cage,” said Dennings. “But what’s cool is that he was so respectful and I think it may have been where he came from, like, I’m a girl, so he didn’t want to touch me physically and make me uncomfortable. It really does.”

Dennings is currently starring in “WandaVision” as Darcy Lewis, a role she played in two previous MCU films, “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World”. Darcy is helping Jimmy Woo, an FBI agent from Randall Park, find out what’s going on in Westview and what’s going on with Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda.

It is unclear whether Darcy’s role will become greater in “WandaVision”, which has started drawing attention to previous MCU films, but his character has been very useful so far. Meanwhile, Dennings said he “will assume” that his character is not in the next “Thor” film, which is currently being filmed. She said she was not asked to do anything about it, but she would always be ready for anything Marvel wanted her to do.
