Kanto Tourist Preparation Guide | Pokémon GO Hub

With less than a week to go on the Kanto Tour on February 20th, here are some last-minute tips to get ready and make sure you can make the most of the day!

Pokémon Storage Space

With an incredible 12 hours of gameplay, it’s a huge amount of Pokémon to catch! Give your Pokémon great storage clean and be brutal. If you keep a dex alive, make sure you only have multiples of the relevant Pokémon meta. Transfer community day shinies to Pokémon HOME or the Teacher. You will never need more than 20 shinies from a particular Pokémon (unless it’s your favorite, I understand, I accumulate brilliant Turtwig!), It’s time to say goodbye to them.

If you can, take advantage of the increased distance trading this week and roll some again if you can, but you’ll have to be brutal. If you don’t have space for your luggage at most, maybe the morning of the Kanto Tour is the time to go for it. I will wait until the morning of the Tour to maximize the space of my bag, because otherwise I know it will fill up without me noticing.

Do you need one of each Spinda pattern? Do you need to keep 98% of Ampharos when you have the world? Now is the time to harden your collection and start transferring. Have you accumulated a lot of legendary Pokémon to trade? Sorry, but it’s time to let them go! There is no double transfer of sweets this month, so start transferring them now. You don’t need 20 of each legendary, keep your best teams of 6 if necessary, but be sure to go through them, you will be surprised at how many you have.

I also recommend going through your Shadow Pokémon and purifying and transferring them. I say purify first because to reach level 50 you need a lot of platinum badges, and this is an emblem that you can work on passively. Watch out for your star dust, though, I don’t recommend purifying those 5000 Pokémon from dust! You don’t have to keep them all (unless you love them for RA), so get rid of what you don’t need.

Item preparation

Balls, balls, balls, that’s all you need to worry about this week. Potions and revivals soon fill up when attacking, so keep them to a minimum, keep your fruits under control and focus on the balls. I realized the other day that the space in my bag of items was constantly full and I couldn’t figure out why … I have been raiding a lot lately and had over 700 rare sweets accumulated !!

A lot of space takes up my bag. I put a lot on Noibat because no way am I going to go for 400 candies soon to evolve that cutie, and then I checked which legendary Pokémon I want to connect to and put rare candies in them too.

Other surprising items that take up the space of your bag may be the excess of red fruits, so put them in the star dust academies or evolution items. You don’t need a lot of each evolution item, use them or play them.

Opening your maximum amount of gifts every day this week will help you accumulate balls, so be sure to send as many gifts as you can and open the full amount every day. With a greater chance of lucky friends, prioritizing your best friends is the way to go this week, but after opening the gifts of people you want to try, get lucky, open, open, open! Make sure you reach your limit each day. If you need more friends, check out your local groups, disagreements, etc., post to social media, fill out that list of friends and get more gifts.

If you are going to use a GO Plus or similar, make sure you have lots of Pokéballs instead of Great Balls, then go through them, then use the Great / Ultra balls to pick them up manually and leave your Pokéballs for GO Plus.

It is also important to ensure that you have incense, pieces of stars or lucky eggs you may want to use it, and remember that you can stack them now, so place them at the beginning of the event and then you won’t have to worry about them running out during. Exclusive spawns are just incense, so you’ll need incense to get them!

Make a brilliant checklist

Before the day itself, I recommend becoming a shiny checklist than you need from the Kanto region. Go to your Pokédex and write down what is missing, you may be surprised to realize how many you need, or realize that you have shinies you forgot. Having a list will help you prioritize what you will click on in a spawn group. I’m going to old school and I’m going to make a list of paper that I can keep in my pocket, instead of a note on my phone, since I don’t intend to leave the application at any time. Each Kanto Pokémon will be available brilliantly, and we hope for a brilliant rate similar to GO Fest (or rather, we would choose better!), So this will be your best chance to get that bright and alive Kanto dex.

Choose red or green with a partner

With two different ticket options, red and green, and Pokémon exclusive to each version, talk to your friends before choosing, if you haven’t already. I chose green, so my best friend Max chose red, so we can be sure that we have our exclusive versions to trade with each other so that we can get the 151 full Kanto Pokémon on the day. Check with your local invasion groups and community and form pairs, or at least make sure there is a good match for you with each version of the ticket, so that on the day you don’t panic about finding someone to negotiate with. Buddy up!

Also, make sure that you really choose your ticket option before the event starts to save time!

Batteries, chargers and phones

If you live somewhere where you can play outside safely and legally, make sure you have the portable batteries charged and the charger cables in hand. It is a long event, you will need these chargers! Even if you’re playing at home, make sure you know where the chargers are and keep an eye on battery power to save. With extreme weather conditions in much of the world, battery percentages can drop suddenly, so don’t drop too much!

Make sure that you to charge overnight so that your phone is ready to work and you have many Dice remaining if you don’t use WiFi all day. The last thing anyone needs is to run out of data in the middle of the day.

Proper clothing

We have some serious weather extremes now, so making sure you are dressed properly is very important.

If it’s spring / summer where are you now, sunscreen is the key! Don’t get burned or have a heat stroke, or you’ll have fun. Make sure you have access to cold drinks, shady places and wear light, airy clothes that will keep you cool while protecting your skin.

If you use your hair in one part, make sure that part is covered with sunscreen too, it’s easy to forget. Set timers to reapply and be sure to apply half an hour before heading out into the sun to let it penetrate and function. Sunglasses and sun hats also help to protect you.

If it’s winter / fall, wrap up hot! Multiple thin layers are better than one or two thick layers and a good waterproof coating. Sunscreen is still needed in the winter, that sun can be incredibly strong, especially looking at the snow. Gloves that you can use the phone with and good sturdy hiking boots to keep you from slipping are also great.

Keep an eye on the weather, there is no point in risking your health for Pokémon, so stay home if the weather is extreme and stay safe!

Check your local Covid 19 guidelines

Check your local laws and guidelines regarding Covid 19 and make sure you are protecting yourself. Mask, keep 6 feet away, wash your hands and use disinfectant when you can. Don’t run the risk of getting into trouble for breaking the rules or spreading the virus. The guidelines may vary from city to city, state to state, country to country, so make sure you are aware of your specific local guidelines.

For example, in the UK, we can only leave home for essential reasons or to exercise. The exercise does not include meeting anyone else, and people were fined for traveling outside their area to play Pokémon GO. Stay safe and protect your health service and the people around you.

Food and drink

Plan snacks, lunches and drinks in advance, as well as bathroom breaks. Perhaps lunchtime is the time for you to come home (if you are allowed to play outdoors) to rest, recharge your phone and refuel with a decent lunch. Stay hydrated and fed and you will have a much more fun day.

Last minute preparation

If you are in the western hemisphere, we have an advantage over other parts of the world. With countries like New Zealand, Australia and Japan starting long before us, there will be a lot of data available on social media about the mission lines and what you need to do. It’s worth checking out our social networks and website to see what the day involves, so you can plan ahead and keep your expectations in check. Follow us on Twitter!

Make sure you know that you are following a reliable and reputable source, there will probably be questionable photoshops circulating, so check your sources.

General tips and tricks

If you are really planning to work, learning the ‘Quick Capture‘trick can be a big help (although I have to admit, as a southpaw, I can’t find out!). There are several videos on how to do this on Youtube, so take a look here.

Another interesting tip is that when you click on a Pokémon to check the brightness, it turns to you. So, when you are checking a group, those you haven’t verified won’t be aimed at you, so this should save you time when checking the same Pokémon twice.

Make sure prioritize checking an incense spawn about wild spawns, as incense spawns only last a very short period of time, with one spawn every minute, and you don’t want to miss that shiny mark!

Conclusion

We currently have no idea what to expect in terms of brightness rates, but we expect it to be something like GO Fest, if not better. We hope that the quest line will reward many Poké Balls to keep us well-stocked, and we really hope that the quest can be completed entirely at home.

Stay safe, have fun and take care of yourself!
