KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Patrick Mahomes was with the Kansas City Chiefs when they started Friday’s practice session, the last one before Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium.
His participation on Friday seems to put Mahomes on a path to play on Sunday. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Mahomes took all the photos at practice on Wednesday and most of them on Thursday.
Mahomes was eliminated in the divisional round playoff victory over the Browns last week with symptoms of a concussion after being attacked in a running move. He’s in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Three other important Chiefs players who battled injuries were also present at the start of Friday practice: wide receiver Sammy Watkins (calf), running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (hip, ankle) and cornerback Bashaud Breeland (concussion) , shoulder).
Coach Sean McDermott said the Bills were preparing for the Mahomes game.
“I think at the beginning of the week we weren’t sure and we really won’t know, I think, ” said McDermott.” It’s probably trending in that direction, so that’s what we’re anticipating. ”
