Kansas City Chiefs’ Daniel Kilgore leaves the COVID-19 list after close contact with barber

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs, on the eve of Super Bowl LV, made a flurry of changes in the squad, including the activation of the reserve center Daniel Kilgore from the reserve list / COVID-19.

Kilgore can play on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had been placed on the reserve list and was unable to practice with the Chiefs this week after being in close contact with a barber who tested positive for COVID-19.

Kilgore passed Saturday’s inspection with the Chiefs before leaving for Tampa, Florida.

All COVID-19 tests for Chiefs and Buccaneers were negative on Saturday, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN. The teams will test again on Sunday, with results generally known later in the evening.

The Chiefs took two planes to Tampa for the COVID-19 protocols, a source told Schefter. Most of the players and coaches, including coach Andy Reid, were on the first plane, while the second plane was for additional essential staff and some players.

In other moves, the Chiefs activated the injured reserve’s tight end Deon Yelder and promoted three players from the training team, including quarterback Matt Moore. In addition to Moore, defender Chris Lammons and wide receiver Marcus Kemp were featured on the training team.

Kansas City also placed initial left striker Eric Fisher and linebacker Willie Gay on reserve due to injury. Neither practiced this week, and the Chiefs declared them out of the Super Bowl in their final injury report for the week.

Information from ESPN’s Dianna Russini was used in this report.
