Kansan protesting in Washington, DC explains the decision to violate the US Capitol

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A man named Steve, from Salina, is among the Kansans who are in Washington, DC to speak out for President Donald Trump. Steve, who did not reveal his last name, was part of the large group that opened the way to the United States Capitol on Wednesday afternoon. Steve said he is in the nation’s capital because he “is fed up” and “we have to fight for the Americans”.

“The goal is to show the American people that we love our country and that we are going to defend it,” he said.

Steve said the intention was not to make the protest violent.

“We didn’t want to cause any more problems, but we wanted to be within the capital. It is our home and we plan to come and talk to our representatives because they are doing the wrong thing, ”he said.

Steve made the trip to Washington, DC from Sunflower State with others who did not listen to police demands.

“We climbed the scaffolding and entered,” he said of entering the United States Capitol. “The doors were kicked open and we entered and it was then that the interior police came to us, spread pepper spray and hit us with shields.

He said that bold action is what he thought it would take to get his message across.

“I would die for our country and for freedom. I would die for your freedoms. And if it is necessary to do so … ”

Steve said he left the capital before the 6 pm curfew and did not know what could happen at dusk in Washington.
