The vice president’s stepdaughter is going into modeling.
On Thursday, IMG models announced who is now representing Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Emhoff, 21, is a senior at Parsons School of Design in New York, where he studies fine arts, with a focus on textiles, according to The New York Times.
Her style was especially noted in the inauguration of President Joe Biden last week, where she wore a Miu Miu coat that went viral.

“What she wore and who she was that day was in agreement with the person I met,” IMG President Ivan Bart told The Times. “That’s why everyone noticed it.”
However, Bart said that Emhoff first caught his eye long before, at a fundraiser for Harris during the presidential primaries. Bart and Emoff started discussing the possibility of Emhoff joining IMG last summer.

“I was very surprised when everything about IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw it as part of my timeline,” Emhoff told The Times.

Although she said that modeling looks intimidating, the industry is also changing to include more diversity. Emhoff told The Times that she is excited to use her new platform to “share many things that really interest me and do something good”.

Bart also told The Times that modeling changed its focus more on authenticity.
“It is no longer about shape, size or gender,” he said. “Ella communicates this moment in time. She exudes a cheeky air and joy.”

Emhoff has had some appearances as a model with a minor agent, according to The Times. However, IMG Models is a big step forward. Some of the agency’s models include Karlie Kloss, Ashley Graham, Gisele Bündchen and Gigi and Bella Hadid.
IMG Models announced that Emhoff would join their ranks just two days after the model agency said it had signed another inauguration star: Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet.
