Harris took the stage at a campaign drive-thru rally for Democratic candidates for the second round of the Senate and addressed the crowd in an impressive campaign. Trump attacked Raffensperger for refusing to falsely declare Trump the winner of the Peach State election.
“Did you all hear about that taped conversation?” Harris asked with cars honking in the audience. “Well, yes, it was certainly the voice of despair, that’s for sure, and it was a bald, bald and bold abuse of power by the President of the United States.”
Previously, Bob Bauer, a senior adviser to President-elect Joe Biden, in a statement said he “captures the whole shameful story about Donald Trump’s attack on American democracy”.
The soon-to-be-installed vice president tracked down the failed attempts by Trump and other Republicans to overturn the election on false allegations of widespread electoral fraud – an accusation that was considered without credible evidence.
“And then look at the most recent story, which is that after you elected, you became Georgia blue, you elected Joe Biden president of the United States, you elected the first black woman in our country’s history to be vice president of the United States, and they have the audacity to suggest that you didn’t know what you were doing, you must have acted in an illegitimate way, “she said.
Harris also criticized Trump for calling the January 5 Senate runoff elections “illegal and invalid” and that he was “suggesting that the people of Georgia are trying to commit a crime”.
Those strong comments came after Harris talked about the importance of the Senate on Instagram Live with artist and music Janelle Monáe, defiantly stating that she would be sworn in as vice president in less than three weeks, regardless of attempts to obstruct or delay .
“And when I take office on January 20, what I will be, whether Donald Trump likes it or not, the sad and bittersweet moment is that there will be no more black women in the United States Senate,” said Harris.
Speaking before Harris, Senate candidate Jon Ossoff said Trump was actively trying to “deprive black voters” in the state.
“This is a direct attack on our democracy. And if David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler had a piece of steel on their backs, a fragment of integrity, they would be here defending Georgia voters from this type of attack,” said Ossoff.
Harris and Biden, who will return to Atlanta on Monday, are making their final push into Peach State in the hope that the Democratic Party will gain control of the Senate and start its administration with a unified government.
