Juventus-Porto and Borussia Dortmund-Sevilla odds, expert choices in the UEFA Champions League

The first two quarter-finals of the Champions League will be confirmed on Tuesday, when Juventus host Porto and Sevilla travel to Borussia Dortmund for two games separated by a goal margin. Federico Chiesa’s late goal halved Juventus’s first-leg deficit in Porto and perhaps makes him the favorite to reach the round of 16 for the fifth time in seven years. Borussia Dortmund hopes to join them after overcoming an initial disadvantage to win 3-2 away from Sevilla, with Erling Haaland further boosting his reputation on the European stage with two striking goals.

But how does our panel of experts predict that Tuesday’s games will play out? Read the forecasts and remember that you can follow all the action on Paramount +.

Juventus vs Porto

Time: Tuesday, 3 pm ET (Paramount +)
Juventus -225; Draw +340; Porto +650 (odds via William Hill Sportsbook)

Most recent odds:

Juventus -1.5

Rongen’s opinion: Juve have won nine of their last 10 home matches in all competitions (a draw), without conceding goals in six matches. With Alvaro Morata scoring two goals in the last victory against Lazio and Cristiano Ronaldo resting, I hope Juve will advance. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 3-2 in total)

Romano’s opinion: Juventus bet everything on the Champions League and cannot miss this opportunity. The team will have back Leonardo Bonucci, Juan Cuadrado and Alvaro Morata. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 3-2 in total)

Echegaray’s opinion: Andrea Pirlo knows – as Serie A looks increasingly likely to go to Inter – that the Champions League is his only salvation this season. Losing in the round of 16 would be disastrous, especially for Cristiano Ronaldo and what that means for his future. I think Porto will fight to keep a Juve focused and Ronaldo, who did not play a full game in the victory against Lazio last weekend, will take advantage. Federico Chiesa will also score in this one. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 3-2 in total)

West’s opinion: At home, with Giorgio Chiellini back in training and needing just one goal? I’m going with CR7 and Juventus. I don’t think it will be beautiful, but I think the home team can do the job with a narrow victory. Choice: Juventus 1, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 2-2 in the away tie)

Johnson’s opinion: The goal outside Portugal will be crucial for the Italians, as they will do the work at home and advance to the quarterfinals. Juve advance. Choice: Juventus 1, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 2-2 in the away tie)

Benge’s opinion: That really won’t be easy for Juve, who hired Cristiano Ronaldo to cross the finish line in the Champions League and instead fell back into the group of pursuers. Federico Chiesa was the first player, in addition to CR7, to score a knockout goal for the Bianconeri in three years and if Ronaldo does not stand out, he would be tempted to gravitate towards Porto. Still, he must have just enough in the tank to lift a regular team up to the last eight. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (3-2 aggregate)

Gonzalez’s review: After laying an egg in the first leg, Juventus recovered through Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored twice to guarantee the qualification of the Old. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 3-2 in total)

Herrera’s review: Porto made a comeback in the first leg by scoring two goals, but Juventus managed to cut to the advantage in the final minutes. Expect Juventus to be motivated by defeat with the home in tow factor. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 3-2 in total)

Goodman’s review: Despite everyone’s poor performance, from coach Andrea Pirlo to Cristiano Ronaldo in the first leg, Juventus remain comfortable in the tie. Even an average performance should be more than enough to accompany them this time against a team from Porto that is one of their vintage versions. Choice: Juventus 2, Porto 0 (Juventus advance 3-2 in total)

Borussia Dortmund v Sevilla

Time: Tuesday, 3 pm ET (Paramount +)
Borussia Dortmund +111; Draw +270; Sevilla +225 (odds via William Hill Sportsbook)

Most recent odds:

Borussia Dortmund -0.5

Rongen’s opinion: Dortmund are unbeaten in their last seven home games at UCL (two draws) – this streak will continue. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 2, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 5-3 in total)

Romano’s opinion: Erling Haaland is dominating the Champions League and will make a difference again. Sevilla are going to work on it, but BVB are in good shape. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 2, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 5-3 in total)

Echegaray’s opinion: This is so hard to understand and, yes, I am going on a whirlwind here and I can be wrong in many ways. But I think Sevilla – who are getting healthier and healthier – will want to change some things in this game and take advantage of some important injuries. That depends on Erling Haaland and his fitness, as well as Raphael Guerreiro, who is in doubt for this game. Not Jadon Sancho too? I think Sevilla will do everything they can. But I can already feel this biting me in the ass. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 1, Sevilla 3 (Sevilla advances 5-4 in total)

West’s opinion: This is incredibly difficult to call. Both Dortmund and Sevilla suffered demoralizing defeats over the weekend and it is impossible to say which version of the teams will appear on Tuesday. I will hang my hat on Erling Haaland and the added advantage of three goals away from home that Dortmund achieved in the first round. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 2, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 5-3 in total)

Johnson’s opinion: The Spaniards are losing their form at the worst possible moment, with the Copa del Rey lost and the defense far from solid. The Germans recently turned a corner and will continue to win to reach the quarterfinals. Dortmund passes. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 2, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 5-3 in total)

Benge’s opinion: Sevilla has fluctuated significantly since the first leg loss to Dortmund, who appeared to be increasing in number with explosive counterattacks led by Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland. Having the latter (Sancho is out with a thigh problem), Marco Reus and so many other offensive talents in the mix mean you have to assume that Dortmund are going to score goals. As for Sevilla, I’m not sure if they left out the addiction to creating mediocre chances. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 2, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 5-3 in total)

Gonzalez’s review: Dortmund managed to get some important players on time, put Sevilla back three times and moved forward without much concern. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 3, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 6-3 in total)

Herrera’s review: An exciting first leg between the two teams will create an interesting second leg, but an Erling Haaland in good form will make a difference in this one. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 3, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 6-3 in total)

Goodman’s review: Two teams that are not playing very well at the moment means that this match will be a balm for someone, whatever happens. Dortmund will play in an open style, no matter what, but Sevilla probably doesn’t have the ability to exploit Dortmund’s defensive vulnerability. Choice: Borussia Dortmund 2, Sevilla 1 (Borussia Dortmund advances 5-3 in total)
