Juvenile suffers serious knife wounds in altercation in the center of Santa Bárbara | Local News

A teenager was taken to the hospital with potentially fatal injuries Wednesday night after being stabbed during an alleged gang fight in downtown Santa Barbara, according to police.

A group of four young people were walking near Anapamu and Bath streets when a second group of teenagers and young adults approached and a fight broke out, according to Anthony Wagner, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara Police Department.

A teenager was stabbed and the rest of the people left the area, Wagner said.

The stabbing victim walked to Rue de la Vina and collapsed, and AMR police and paramedics responded to the scene at around 5:45 pm, Wagner said.

The victim was transported to Santa Bárbara Cottage Hospital, and his medical condition was unknown on Thursday, Wagner said.

As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made and the investigation continued.

The police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the department at 805.897.2465.
