Apparently, actor Justin Long is no longer a Mac.
Long, who appeared in Apple commercials with comedian John Hodgman in the late 2000s (the “I’m a Mac, I’m a personal PC”), is now starring in a series of Intel ads, launching the campaign roadmap that made PCs look less modern devices.
In the new ads, Long says, “I’m a … Justin, just a real person making a comparison between Mac and PC.” It compares everything from the color and style offerings of PCs to the inability of MacBooks to fold into a tablet. The ads also address PC versus Mac games. “Nobody really plays on a Mac,” says the ad. Another location highlights the ASUS ZenBook Duo 14touchscreen of, versus the MacBook Pro touch bar.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
At its Mac event in November, Apple performed a “one last thing” cameo with Hodgman reprising his role as the PC guy.
Intel’s announcements are not the first time a spokesman has defected to a rival camp. Notably, ex Paul Marqueelli, star of the Verizon commercial (the “Can you hear me now?” guy) started making ads for Sprint in 2016.
