At the end of the fourth season of These are U.S, Kevin and Randall discussed Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) medical care. But the disagreement quickly turned into a screaming match, revealing 40 years of resentment.
So, the first episodes of These are U.S Season 5 illustrated how Kevin and Randall’s fight affected their relationship. The Pearson brothers had very few brief conversations, each time full of discomfort and awkward silences. But things started to change after Randall made a trip to New Orleans.
At the These are U.S Season 5 Episode 6, Randall discovered the truth about his birth mother, Laurel (Jennifer C. Holmes). The experience also allowed Randall to begin to heal and get rid of all “bad things”. So Randall decided to call Kevin and possibly made up with his brother.

“The gesture that his brother would do for him and do what he thinks Kevin would do for him. It just shows Randall’s heart, ”said Hartley. “I think something like that is what is needed sometimes to get things back on track. So this is good. “
Meanwhile, Hartley revealed his hopes for Randall and Kevin to move on, suggesting that the birth of the twins could be what brings the two brothers back together. Hartley said:
