Justin Bieber releases a surprise gospel EP on Easter Sunday entitled ‘Freedom’

Justin Bieber shocked his fans by releasing a surprise Gospel EP on Easter Sunday entitled “Freedom”.

The celebrity went to social media on the holiday for a very straightforward ad, in which he simply shared the word “Freedom” typed in an iPhone notes app along with with a caption which says: “Freedom on all platforms”.

The EP, which includes collaborations with artists such as Beam, Brandon Love, Chandler Moore, Pink Sweats, Judah Smith, Tori Kelly and Lauren Walters, has a total of six tracks, each with a gospel theme.

The announcement day was surprising enough, but it also puzzled some fans due to its proximity to the release of Bieber’s sixth studio album, “Justice”, which arrived last month. As the album climbed to the top of several charts in the U.S., Bieber sparked new songs along the way with several social media posts in recent weeks, showing him in the studio at work. However, no one expected anything new to happen so quickly, especially as “Justice” continues its moment of leadership.

Bieber recently responded to the controversy surrounding the new album by presenting an interlude in which the audio of Martin Luther King Jr. speaking in 1967 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Being Canadian… they didn’t teach us about black history. It just wasn’t part of our educational system, ”explained the musician to Bieber Nation co-founder Kristal Terrell, on the Clubhouse app (via Billboard).

“I want to keep growing and learning about all the social injustices and what it’s like for me to be better, what it’s like for my friends to be better,” the “Yummy” singer continued. “And I know that I have a long way to go. I love it when people are listening to my album, these conversations are coming up and they’re like, ‘Well, how’s it going from Martin Luther King to a love song? ‘”

Bieber concluded, “I’m not trying to make a connection between me and Martin Luther King. That’s why I never try to talk about social injustice or I don’t want to be the one to talk about it because I have so much more to learn to do.”
