Justin Bieber does not go to the Grammys 2021 after snobbish R&B

Is it too late for the Grammy to apologize?

Justin Bieber will not be attending the 2021 Grammy on Sunday because he will not be performing at this year’s show, Page Six learned.

The singer’s “Hold On” decision to skip the biggest night of the song also comes after Bieber – who was nominated for four awards this weekend – called the Recording Academy for naming his album “Changes” in a pop category instead to classify it as R&B as intended.

“I am flattered to be recognized and appreciated for my art. I am very meticulous and intentional with my music. With that said, I set out to make an R&B album, ”he wrote on Instagram after the nominations announcement. “’Changes’ was and is an R&B album. It is not being recognized as an R&B album, which is very strange for me ”.

The Recording Academy did not immediately return a request for comment from Page Six.

Bieber, 27, is a candidate for Best Pop Solo Performance (“Yummy”), Best Pop Duo / Group Performance (“Intentions”, with Quavo), Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Country Duo / Group Performance (for his participation in Dan + “10,000 hours” from Shay).

The “Holy” singer said the Recording Academy’s “weird” decision was a disappointment, as it was his dream “to make a project that incorporates that sound”.

“Not being placed in this category seems strange, considering from the chords, the melodies, the vocal style, to the chosen hip-hop drums, it is undeniably, unmistakably an R&B album!”

Bieber later clarified that he is forever grateful for the recognition and thanked those who “fought for me to have a name”.
