Aston Villa was forced to play against Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup, a very weak young team.
To their credit, they held on for a long time, with Louie Barry nullifying Sadio Mane’s opening goal. But in the space of about five minutes, Liverpool just called and took their game away, winning 4-1.
Jürgen Klopp was quite honest about the occasion, acknowledging Liverpool’s superiority, but admitting the fights against a very weakened opponent.
“The kids got along really well – that’s a good thing,” he told BT Sport, as reported by BBC Sport. We had problems with football. We needed a little more time, but then it was completely clear.
“[There were] movement and movement problems. Many on the wrong side of the ball – insufficient recovery of passes. We had chances and we shot straight at the goalkeeper – we changed in the second half.
“It was rusty, but it improved in the second half. Against Southampton [1-0 defeat] from the first second they were more in the field, but today it is not the case. “
Speaking a little about the challenges of putting a strong team in the game that is coming against Manchester United, the coach explained that “we have many players without pace. We will do a lot of 11 x 11 training. ”
I couldn’t have said it better. “No rhythm”. That’s how it’s been watching Liverpool for the past few weeks. I don’t know how it got fixed, but the Reds need to find some kind of rhythm soon. Or the season may pass quickly.
