An exploded game decision meant that a furious New York Knicks had to be escorted off the court on Monday, and you will be shocked to learn that Scott Foster was involved.
In the final seconds of the New York Knicks game against rival Brooklyn Nets, Julius Randle received the ball with three points 5.7 seconds from time. Randle jumped to make a 3-point basket contested by Kyrie Irving, but he grabbed the ball and fell.
At first glance, it was a trip up and down like a manual. A repetition, however, showed that Irving had actually hit the ball when Randle came up to shoot:
Randle immediately disputed Foster’s temporary call, but the officer didn’t even leave the call for an instant replay.
The Nets soon ended the game with a couple of free throws from James Harden, at which point Randle seemed to want to hit the score. Immediately after the game ended, Randle approached the middle of the court and seemed to be looking for someone, until his teammates pushed him back into the locker room.
Randle put his frustrations on a chair as he entered the tunnel:
The call and dispute was the end of an excellent night for Randle, who ended up with 33 points from 13 of 27 shots, 12 rebounds, six assists and three steals.
After the game, Randle refused to say anything worthy about the situation:
There was a conversation, but I think it is better not to comment on the situation. There is a lot of frustration behind it, for both sides. I’ll let that stay in the past and move on to the next game.
Meanwhile, Foster told a reporter that he considered that Irving touched the ball, but did not displace it, making it a trip in his eyes.
Randle came in on Monday with an average of 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game, all career highs in a runaway season for his previous seventh overall choice.
