Juicy J said no to the COVID-19 vaccine, but people on social media won’t let him forget the many letters he has about using prescription drugs throughout his career.
On Friday morning (March 26), the Three 6 Mafia member wrote in a now deleted tweet: “If I were you, I wouldn’t be vaccinated, I would wear a mask and take vitamins.”
A Twitter user named @ marcj88 replied immediately with, “Hey, juice. Big fan. You told me to taste sizzurp when I was in 7th grade.
Although Juicy J has the right to share his anti-drug thoughts, many people on Twitter offered the Memphis rapper some reminders about the drug-related subject in some of his songs.
One person tweeted, “A zipper and a double cup of Juicy J giving health advice?” This line is from the song “Zip and a Double Cup” by Juicy, from its 2011 edition Blue Dream and Lean album. Double cups typically contain lean – a mixture of codeine cough syrup, soda, and sometimes sweet.
Another person said, “People like Juicy J take molly or ecstasy, but they ‘don’t trust’ a COVID vaccine. #MakeItMakeSense.” On Juicy J’s 2011 track, “Get Higher”, he sings: “Take the blind man, dive in the skinny and light up / Pop a Molly, drink an orange juice, get taller”. That’s probably what the social media user was referring to.
A third person typed in, “I think it is good that Juicy J has relied on pharmaceutical companies for decades for various opioids of his choice, but vaccines is where he stepped foot,” including three laughing emojis.
Although Juicy is being criticized for his feelings about the coronavirus vaccine, he is not the first rapper to speak out against what the country hopes will offer Americans an eventual sense of normalcy.
During Kanye West’s interview with Forbes Last year, the Chicago native revealed that he had contracted the coronavirus, but he also considered the vaccine the “mark of the beast”.
According to the Center of Disease Control, as of March 4, there are three types of COVID-19 vaccines: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson / Janssen. In addition, President Biden revealed on Thursday (March 25) that he wants to administer 200 million vaccines by his 100th day in office, which would happen around April 23, according to CNBC.
