The current US box office narrative, by default, is all about Warner Bros. and their simultaneous releases – at least because you’re doing a lot of them. We’ve already seen how Wonder Woman 1984 and The little things left, and now the WB has just released its third simultaneous HBO Max / cinema release: Judas and the Black Messiah. Unfortunately for Shaka King’s Black Panther drama, the film – despite looking the best of the three – had the worst opening. It cost just over $ 2 million, little more than The little things did last weekend (third on the charts).

Third, still hovering around $ 2 million, it is The Croods: A New Age, which raised more than $ 48 million in 12 weeks. Now this Sounds like a lot, but that’s just because this was COVID made us forget how much money the movies used to make (it’s not even half as much as the first Croods done internally). After that it is WW84who has been chasing The Croods since its launch, but raised just $ 1.1 million this week (for a total of $ 41 million). By Liam Neeson The shooter it won almost the same amount, making it the last of the films on the list to gross more than $ 1 million.

The two great newcomers this week, except Judas and the Black Messiah were from Robin Wright Earth and Kevin Macdonald’s The Mauritanian. The former debuted with $ 940,000 and the latter debuted with $ 163,000. And, as always, it’s worth noting that no film will really do well at the box office (even after several months) because it’s not really safe to go to the cinema and the federal government has done a terrible job of taking the necessary steps to help change that.
