JUCO linebacker jumps on board with South Carolina

South Carolina Gamecocks has just signed another linebacker.

Tavareon Scott, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospective client at Dodge City Community College, announced his decision on National Signature Day. Mississippi State and West Virginia were its other finalists.

Scott, who graduated from Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, had 42 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception during his first year in Dodge City. The 2019 high school graduate will have four years to play three seasons in South Carolina.

Arizona, Texas Tech, Houston and Washington State were some of the other schools that sent Scott an offer during his college career. He “most likely” will graduate from Dodge City in May. Depending on when he reports to South Carolina, Scott may end up counting on Gamecocks’ 2022 recruiting class. Whether this will happen or not can be determined this spring.

South Carolina reached National Signature Day with defensive attack commitments TJ Sanders (Marion, SC) and linebacker Kolbe Fields (Metairie, Louisiana). Sanders has already signed. Fields is scheduled to take place in the late afternoon. Three star cornerback La’Dareyen Craig (Mobile, Ala.) He announced that morning that he would sign with Gamecocks.

Two linebackers have already been transferred to South Carolina: Jordan Strachan (State of Georgia) and Darryl Williams (Delaware). Strachan, who split the country’s leadership into sacks last season (10.5), could be another top presence. Williams may end up patrolling the middle. Fields, who is listed as a three star by 247Sports, may end up playing in the positions of Sam or Will.

Gamecocks’ 2021 recruitment class is ranked 94th in the country, according to 247Sports. They are the last in the SEC.
