Quintana will meet with Captain Joe Maddon, who managed him from 2017-19 with the Cubs. The southpaw, who turns 32 on Sunday, has an ERA of 3.73 in nine major league seasons and won an All-Star selection in 16 as a member of the White Sox.
Quintana posted an ERA of 4.50 last season after a laceration on his left thumb during Summer Camp and an injury later in the season limited him to just 10 entries in four appearances (one match).
Durability was one of Quintana’s best assets, as it has surpassed 30 matches and has thrown at least 171 entries in each 2013-19 season. This is perhaps the most attractive quality for the Angels, who in 19 had only one starting pitcher (Trevor Cahill) reaching 100 entries.
