Jones, Smith and Harris of Alabama lead 6 Tide AP All-Americans

Heisman Trophy finalists, Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith, were selected for The Associated Press All-America team, leading a contingent of five Alabama players in the attack from the main team.

Crimson Tide’s running back Najee Harris, Alex Leatherwood’s tackle and Landon Dickerson are also first team selections. No. 1 Alabama is the first team since 1980, when the AP All-America team started with two wide receivers and two running backs, to place a quarterback, running back and receiver on the first team.

Cornerback Patrick Surtain II gives Crimson Tide six first team selections, the largest in the country. Number 4 of Notre Dame, an opponent of the Alabama College Football Playoff this weekend, has two All-Americans from the first team on the offensive guard Aaron Banks and linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Kyle Trask, from Florida, was selected as the second team’s quarterback, and Heisman’s finalist, Trevor Lawrence of Clemson, was the quarterback of the AP’s third team, launched on Monday. Lawrence, the likely first choice in the next NFL draft, made it to AP All-America for the first time in his career.

No. 2 Clemson, who will face No. 3 Ohio State in the CFP semifinal at the Sugar Bowl on Friday night, had just one other player selected for teams across America: running back Travis Etienne made the first team like everyone else. – player on purpose. The senior has been a second All-American team on the running back for the past two seasons.

Ohio state guard Wyatt Davis is the only player to repeat himself as an All-American on the main team after doing so in 2020. Davis is one of the two Buckeyes on the main team along with cornerback Shaun Wade.
