Jones’ ally of the ‘squad’ excludes tweet demanding Boebert’s expulsion based on misinformation

Congresswoman Mondaire Jones, DN.Y., asked for the expulsion of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, R-Colorado, in a tweet now deleted after a post falsely claiming that a 2019 photo showed her with people who broke into the U.S. Capitol circulated online .

Jones wrote “Expel it” and shared the post intending to link Boebert to the attack on the Capitol. But the photo was from a December 2019 article in the Colorado Times Recorder, reporter Will Sommer of the Daily Beast pointed.

Jones is considered a new ally of the so-called “Squadron” of progressive Democrats in the House of Representatives.

REP. BOEBERT, DISARMED DURING THE CAPITOL MOTION, THROUGH THE FIREARMS RESTRICTIONS: ‘MY LIFE IS WORTH TO DEFEND’

Boebert has been a controversial lightning rod for many reasons since taking office last week. She has faced criticism for her insistence on carrying a firearm on Capitol tweeting “Today is 1776” hours before the Capitol riot.

Boebert criticized the new security measures on Capitol Hill after the riot, including metal detectors, as “just another political ploy by President Pelosi.”

“I am legally authorized to carry my firearm in Washington, DC and inside the Capitol complex,” wrote Boebert in Twitter on Tuesday. “Metal detectors outside the Chamber would not have prevented the violence we saw last week – it is just another political ploy by Mayor Pelosi.”

She resisted allowing police to search her bag after she triggered metal detectors on Tuesday, Colorado Public Radio reported. Boebert previously requested access to a Captiol Police weapon locker, but was denied, the Colorado Times Recorder reported. Members must limit the carrying of firearms to their personal offices.
