Jonah Hill goes to Instagram to talk about body image after Daily Mail photos

Recent photographs included side-by-side images of Hill changing his shirt and another wearing his surf suit.

The “Superbad” actor shared the images on Instagram with a sincere caption referring to the insecurities about his body that he says he has struggled for years.

“I don’t think I ever took my shirt off by the pool until I was about 30, even in front of family and friends,” said Hill on Instagram. “It probably would have happened earlier if my childhood insecurities were not exacerbated by years of public mockery about my body by the press and interviewers.”

He then clarified that this type of image did not affect him anymore, as he learned to be confident and accept his appearance.

“I am 37 years old and I finally love and accept myself. This is not a” good for me “post. And it is definitely not a” I feel bad for me “post, continued the actor.

“It’s for kids who don’t take their shirts off in the pool. Have fun. You are wonderful, amazing and perfect.”

Post attracts celebrity support

Hill’s post on Instagram generated supportive comments from fans and other celebrities who not only applauded him for his honesty, but shared some of his own struggles with body image.

“When I take my shirt off at the beach, it looks like I’m still wearing a shirt … or sweater. Now I’m going to show it off with pride!” said film director Judd Apatow.

“You probably won’t read this comment, but a good man feels incredible because he is incredible and I’m happy to know that someone I admired fought with what I went through and came out on top.

And finally, Justin Timberlake added yet another support message. “You are a G !!! And my animal spirit! I love you, bro!”

Hill ended his post by saying, “Oh and Daily Mail, you can’t even get that smile off my face;).”
