On January 6, the U.S. Capitol was taken over by pro-Trump supporters who denounced the results of the presidential election. While the Senate certified the votes of the Electoral College, which favored the President-elect Joe Biden, supporters forced entry into the US Capitol building.

As a result, members of the Senate and other essential personnel were evacuated and taken to safe locations. In the end, four people died during the protests, including a woman who was shot during a clash between protesters and law enforcement officials.

Since Wednesday’s events, a lot has happened. To start, Donald Trump’s Twitter account was suspended after he shared several tweets that violated the platform’s civic integrity policy. Too, Dead Kennedys faced reaction within the punk community after praising Mitt Romney on twitter. Shortly after, the band confessed that it had nothing to do with the tweet that was shared.

From Iced Earth Stu Block apparently addressed this week’s event in an Instagram post. Soon after, however, Block reportedly started receiving comments from people who no longer supported Iced Earth because of Schaffer’s actions. The flood of responses caused Block to disable the comment section on the post.

Jon Schaffer is not the only musician involved in US Capitol events. Ariel Pink is among the individuals identified in Wednesday’s protests. Director Alex Lee Moyer shared a photo, tagged in Washington, DC, and a video confirming that Ariel Pink and the singer John Maus were at the US Capitol protests.

“The day we almost died, but we had a lot of fun instead.”
