Jon Huber, professional wrestler known as Luke Harper and Brodie Lee in WWE and AEW, dies at 41 from a “lung problem unrelated to COVID”, says his wife

PHILADELPHIA – Professional wrestler Jon Huber, known in the ring as Luke Harper and Mr. Brodie Lee, died on Saturday at the age of 41, according to World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

Huber fought for WWE and most recently for All-Elite Wrestling (AEW). His wife, Amanda Huber, said on Instagram that her husband “surrounded himself with loved ones after a hard battle against a lung problem unrelated to COVID”. According to Huber’s wife, he was being treated by doctors at the Mayo Clinic.

Amanda Huber wrote:

“My best friend died today.

I never wanted to write those words. My heart is broken. The world saw him as the incredible @brodielee (fka Luke Harper), but he was my best friend, my husband and the best father you would ever meet. No words can express the love I feel or how broken I am now. He was surrounded by loved ones after a hard battle with a lung problem unrelated to Covid. @Mayoclinic is literally the best team of doctors and nurses in the world that has surrounded me with constant love. “

“In an industry full of good people, Jon Huber was exceptionally respected and loved in every way – a fierce and captivating talent, a caring mentor and just a very kind soul who totally contradicted his personality as Mr. Brodie Lee,” he wrote AEW in homage to Huber.

WWE said Huber “found success at every stage of his career in sports entertainment, as his soft-spoken and imposing presence helped him create countless inspiring moments in the ring”.

Huber fought for WWE for eight years, most of that time as a member of the Wyatt Family, before debuting for AEW in March as the leader of The Dark Order faction.

WWE brand director Stephanie McMahon said, “I’m deeply sorry for the loss of Jon Huber. We came together for the love of our children. He was a true family man.”

AEW President Tony Khan said: “I am devastated at the loss of Jon Huber, known to fans as Mr. Brodie Lee, formerly Luke Harper. Jon was a great man. His family came first, his beloved wife Amanda and his children Brodie + Nolan. He loved to fight and he was great at that, he loved the fans. Please keep him in your hearts. “

Huber is a former NXT Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion and SmackDown Tag Team Champion in WWE. He won the TNT championship in AEW.

He leaves his wife and two children.
