Jon Gosselin reveals he was hospitalized for COVID-19 and close to being put on a respirator

Jon Gosselin revealed that he was hospitalized for COVID-19 and close to being put on a respirator while continuing to fight the virus, but his separated children don’t even know he is sick.

The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star opened up about her diagnosis and hospitalization during an interview on The Dr. Oz Show, which was recorded today and will air on Thursday.

The 43-year-old man, who worked as an IT director at a health center during the pandemic, told host Dr. Mehmet Oz that he had a 104.8-degree fever when Jordan, his girlfriend’s daughter, Colleen Conrad, took him at the hospital.

Dr. Oz noted that people can start to have seizures if the temperature reaches 105 degrees.

‘I was in a wheelchair. I had to wait in the emergency room, ‘recalls Jon. ‘It was packed as if the hospital was full and then they put me on a stretcher and put me in the hallway in the waiting room, so I could get a temporary room.’

He explained that everything “happened very quickly” and most of his stay in the hospital was a blur for him.

“After they evaluated me and took my blood and did all my blood tests, I’m suddenly getting antibiotics, steroids and a plasma antibody transfusion for COVID,” he said.

‘So they moved me to another room, a more permanent room, and then I remember sleeping and then it was surreal. Like what? I didn’t even realize why I was there until three days later.

Jon’s doctor believed that just another day’s delay in treatment could have taken him to a respirator, which Dr. Oz noted that dramatically increases the death rate from the virus.

‘I had very strong COVID pneumonia based on my numbers,’ agreed the father. ‘Now, what’s interesting is that I didn’t feel it. I didn’t feel bad and I didn’t feel pain because it didn’t look like someone was stabbing me, but when you moved or did anything and you felt so weak and wanted to pass out, it was really scary. ‘

Jon said he would fear having to get up and use the bathroom, remembering how he had to ask the nurses to help him with almost everything.

‘I would fear because I think,’ My God, I’m going to pass out. I can’t breathe, ‘he said. ‘I called the nurse and felt guilty calling her all the time. Why can’t you just help me achieve this? Can you help me do this? Everything, you feel like an invalid.

“You go from perfectly healthy in one week to not being able to do anything the next week,” he added. ‘It was so weird.’

Jon and his ex-wife Kate Gosselin, 45, share twins Cara and Mady, 20, and sextuplets Aaden, Collin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah, 16.

However, only Collin and Hannah live with their father. His brothers are being raised by their mother during the confused battle for custody of their parents, in which Jon and Kate accused the other of abuse.

Jon’s other children are unaware that he has COVID-19 and will likely find out about his interview on the show.

The father told Dr. Oz that his encounter with death made him rethink his relationship with his distant children, and he shared an emotional message for them, saying that he ‘loves them’.

‘I hope they develop a relationship with Hannah and Collin. I hope that one day I can be part of your life, ‘he said to the camera. – I’m glad I had a second chance. I was more concerned with myself at the hospital and getting better and going back to my family.

“I miss them,” he continued. ‘This is another surreal part of my life that I developed a thick skin to move on and just help Hannah and Collin now, since they live with me. These are things that I want to build on. ‘

Jon’s stay in the hospital comes months after his son Collin claimed his father had punched and kicked him in an now deleted Instagram post, which led to an investigation.

The former Couples Therapy student denied the charges and, in September, showed DailyMail.com a letter from Berks County Children & Youth Services in Pennsylvania, confirming that the allegation of suspected child abuse was “unfounded”.

Two months later, Jon encouraged his children to talk about the drama surrounding their family during an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show.

“I think children need to talk,” he said. ‘I mean, I’m giving them the exit of, “If you want to speak to the public because you are public [people], you have every opportunity to do these things. “‘

Jon added that he thought an ‘intervention’ from his children would be necessary for him to repair the bridges with his ex-wife.

– I have no idea if they will get in touch that way. I left it in their court and I’m just focused on the two who are living with me because there is a lot going on with therapies and work and COVID and everything, ‘he said.
