Jennifer Wayne announced her engagement to Austin Moody last month after six months of dating.

And John Wayne’s granddaughter has already gone up to the altar, following a turbulent romance.

She married Moody on Saturday at an intimate western-themed beach wedding in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, less than two weeks after announcing the engagement.

The 38-year-old chose the location because they love the area and ‘really wanted to get married on the water’.

Moody, 29, told People: ‘Jennifer grew up on the beach and there is something so calming and healing about the ocean. Let’s make a boat “go” after we tie the knot. ‘

They brought some ‘western flair’ to the beach wedding, adding, ‘It’s a cowboy / cowgirl themed wedding. Everyone will wear boots and hats.

Wayne surprised in a personalized dress by Nashville designer Tyler Minor: ‘The dress is made of crepe chiffon. It is a very classic style with a bohemian and western touch. ‘

Moody wore a custom Minor animal skin jacket with jeans and a black stetson.

The bride wore her grandmother Pilar Pallete’s engagement ring from grandfather John Wayne as her ‘something blue’.

She said: ‘On his 10th anniversary, he combined the diamond and restored it in a flower setting. Austin used his grandmother’s diamonds to create an engagement ring for me [made with help from my best friend’s mom, Dobrila Pintar,] in the flower scene too. So, I bought all the women in the month of the birth of the wedding flower earrings from Local Eclectic to keep the theme. ‘

The ceremony was followed by a casual reception with food served by Cowgirl Kitchen, in addition to Bourbon Duke and Caymus wine.

Wayne and her fiance opted for a “very small” wedding, with less than 20 guests, consisting of close relatives and close friends.

It happens after the bride and a member of Jane on the Run overcame their own battle with COVID-19 in early 2020.

They said: ‘We are taking COVID very seriously and we request that all guests receive a recent COVID test before attending. We will have the ceremony outdoors with plenty of space for social distance.

The newlyweds plan to celebrate with all their loved ones when it’s safer, with ‘a big party in Nashville’, where they live.

They announced their engagement on December 30th on Instagram, while she played her rock, writing: ‘Happy birthday to the man I’m going to spend the rest of my life with !!! I love you @theaustinmoody. I can’t wait to celebrate the day with you … ‘

Wayne and Moody ‘couldn’t wait another second’ to get married, just six months after they started dating.

They reconnected five years after they met, when their bandmate Natalie Stovall sent him a message: ‘Austin found a dog that had been left on the highway. He knew Natalie and knew that she loved dogs. Then he sent the photo of the dog to Natalie, and she said, “Oh, Jen saves the dogs … we need to send it to Jen.” The rest is history!’
