Joel Embiid yells LeBron James for his dangerous foul: ‘If it were me, I probably would have been expelled’

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, an NBA MVP contender so far this season, was not happy with how the Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James missed him during a team game on Wednesday night market.

During the middle of the third quarter, Embiid drove to the basket and attempted a dunk after passing through the center of the Lakers, Marc Gasol. James stepped forward and pushed Embiid with both hands, sending him crashing to the floor and wincing in pain.

James was marked with a blatant call of foul, and Embiid was able to stay in the game, but later, Embiid expressed his displeasure.

“First of all, I mean, you look at it, it’s a very dangerous move,” said Embiid via ESPN. “I guarantee that, if it had been me, I probably would have been kicked out of the game, which has happened to me in the past with gross fouls for nothing.”

A minute later, Embiid was also flagged with a blatant foul by elbowing Lakers striker Anthony Davis. Embiid didn’t seem to agree with the decision, especially after how badly he missed James.

“When you compare this to what I got, which I thought I hadn’t really hit him with, I didn’t elbow him,” he said. “I may have touched him, but I don’t think he deserved the flag, if you’re going to compare the two.”

Embiid finished with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks for the Sixers in the 107-106 victory over the current NBA champion. His performance further cemented his chances of competing in the NBA MVP and proved that Philadelphia is a legitimate candidate at the Eastern Conference.
