Joel Embiid doing things not seen since Wilt Chamberlain

Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid put on a show on Friday when he had an incredible 50 point performance on 17 of 26 shots with 17 rebounds, five assists and four blocks. The Sixers needed all of that to lift Philadelphia to a 112-105 victory over the Chicago Bulls at home.

Embiid continues to present some lines of historical statistics and has made them look so smooth while trying to become one of the best players in the game. The 50 points he had on Friday were the first 50-point game in the history of the Sixers since Allen Iverson in December 2005, but he joined the historic center with his line of statistics.

Embiid’s 50/15/5 line of statistics is the first of its kind in Philadelphia history since Wilt Chamberlain in 1968. Embiid is also the first player with this line of statistics since 1985.

The big guy remains one of the best players in the league and it is clear that he is in a different headspace than he was in the past, as he fully accepted to be the leader of this team. The challenge for him now is not to get too high and continue to play consistently at this level.
