It looks like Joe Judge is making an addition to his Giants coaching staff, with the expected signing of Jeremy Pruitt certainly an interesting development.
Pruitt, 46, was fired for just cause as Tennessee’s head coach on January 18, after a school-led investigation revealed widespread recruitment violations within the football program. The university will not pay Pruitt for its $ 12.6 million acquisition.
Pruitt’s role with the Giants has yet to be revealed. The position of coach of the external linebacker is open, with the departure of Bret Bielema for Illinois. Pruitt was a defense technician and defensive coordinator at the college. He was 16-19 in three years in Tennessee, including 3-7 last season.
Although Pruitt has no experience as an NFL coach, he does know Judge as the two worked together in 2009-11 Alabama on Nick Saban’s team.
There is another Giants connection to Pruitt. His coach of internal linebackers, Kevin Sherrer, was Pruitt’s defensive coordinator in Tennessee before joining Judge’s team last season.
