Despite being hit by a streak of bad luck, Joe Exotic was able to escape a tragedy by keeping his marriage together.
TMZ reported on Saturday that Exotic and her husband, Dillon Passage, had agreed to remain married. Joe contacted his lawyer Francisco Hernandez to explain that he and Passage decided not to rush into a legal divorce. Instead, the couple will focus on more pressing issues.
“Dillon and I talked and we’re not going to be in a hurry and get a legal divorce,” said the email. “This has been difficult for both of us and he is going to do what he thinks he needs to do and I prefer to stay married now so that things don’t get complicated and if I survive this big moment, we will find out then. “
This happened after Passage revealed to his Instagram followers on Friday that he wanted to leave the marriage and was considering divorce.
“To answer the main question that the public wants to know, yes, Joe and I are seeking a divorce,” he wrote in the caption for a photo of him. “It was not an easy decision to make, but Joe and I understand that this situation is not fair for any of us. It is something that none of us expected, but that we will face day after day. We’re still getting along and I hope it stays that way. I will continue to have Joe in my life and do my best to support him as he faces new legal battles to improve his situation. “
Although he did not give a specific reason for wanting to separate, Passage alludes to Exotic’s long prison sentence, being pushed into unwanted stardom due to the success of Netflix Tiger King, and different business decisions – specifically the choice of Passage in management – helping with their marital problems.
“I don’t feel obliged to explain to the world what is going on in my personal life, and although Joe goes to social media to expose all the complaints, I don’t think it’s the healthiest way to deal with private matters between two people,” Passage said in the long caption. “Therefore, I do not intend to post anything else on this subject.”
Exotic is turning 22 for his role in a murder plot for hire. He’s struggling to get out of prison, but after being ignored when Trump was handing out pardons, his options are starting to run out. Dillion and Joe were married just 9 months before he was arrested.
