It looks like Joe Exotic won’t be married much longer.

Netflix’s controversial “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” star – whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage – and her husband Dillon Passage are “seeking a divorce,” Passage revealed on Instagram on Friday.

Dillon Passage, 23, shared a sunny selfie alongside a long caption explaining the pressures that docuseries put on her wedding.

“In November 2017, I met Joe, who was by my side during a difficult time in my life. After only 9 short months, he was arrested and, for the past two and a half years, we have been separated, ”began Passage. “I have always been by your side and I will always continue to love and support you.”

“Tiger King” arrived on Netflix just over a year ago, on March 20, 2020. The series was an instant success – credited in part to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, keeping people at home in front of the television.

Maldonado-Passage and his former team members became overnight sensations shortly after the self-proclaimed “Tiger King” was arrested after being found guilty of participating in a rental murder plot against his enemy and also a cat enthusiast. great, Carole Baskin.

Although he had a limited role on the show, Passage said that with the debut of “Tiger King”, his life “was launched into a world of media and public attention”.

He called the growing attention “completely strange” and compared it to a “microscope constantly hovering over him”, which continued to make him “uncomfortable”.

To answer the main question that the public wants to know, yes, Joe and I are seeking a divorce.”

Like many celebrity couples who are getting divorced, Passage said that choosing to split up “was not an easy decision”, but that he and her husband “understand that this is not fair for any of us”.

“It is something that none of us expected, but that we will face day after day. We are still in good condition and I hope it will continue,” he said. “I will continue to have Joe in my life and do my best to support him as he faces new legal battles to improve his situation.”

He started to wrap things up by warning followers not to make assumptions about other people who may be carrying “a challenge or burden that you may not see”.

“This is as true for me as it can be for you,” he concluded.
