The presidential inauguration committee of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris released an extensive playlist to mark the inauguration of the 46th president, on January 20.
The playlist is the result of a partnership between PIC, DJ D-Nice and Raedio, a label launched by Insecure star and creator Issa Rae. The set of 46 songs is available on all major streaming services, while a specially sequenced mix version is available on Soundcloud.
“As a brand founded on the principle of being an audio company everywhere, we are honored to create the official playlist for the historic inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris”, Raedio’s co-founder , Benoni Tagoe, said in a statement. “We know that music has the power to bring people together and, after a year of challenges and national divisions, we hope that this collection will serve as an indication of a new beginning, a positive change and a reminder that music of all kinds it’s a common language. “
The tracklist features new and old music and extracts from a variety of genres. Selections include “Now Or Never” by Kendrick Lamar, “Pick Up the Pieces” by Sault’s, “Free”, “Coffin Nails” by MF Doom, Salt-N-Pepa and “Whatta Man” by En Vogue, “Lovely” Bill Withers Day ”,“ We the People ”by Staple Singers,“ Unbelievers ”by Vampire Weekend,“ Got to Give It Up – Pt. 1, ”and“ Good Days ”by SZA.
The playlist also features Biden and Harris’ walk-on songs, as well as first lady Dr. Jill Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff. For the president-elect, it is Bruce Springsteen, “We take care of our own”; for the vice president-elect it is “Work That” by Mary J. Blige; for Dr. Biden, it’s “You Make My Dreams” by Hall and Oates; and for Emhoff, it’s “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals.
