JJ Watt has worn No. 99 since he started to become a university defender in Wisconsin and later during his 10 years at the Houston Texans.
Since he agreed to a deal with the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, it was unclear whether he would be able to use No. 99, as the organization retired him after Marshall Goldberg’s stellar career with the team.
Goldberg played for the team then known as the Chicago Cardinals. He was a defender and defender on the team and ran for 1,644 yards and 11 touchdowns between 1939 and 1948. He was an NFL champion and a former professional player.

Goldberg’s daughter, Ellen Goldberg Tullos, told TMZ Sports that it would be no problem for the Cardinals to cancel the retirement of No. 99 for Watt.
“He has my blessings and I am sure my father would be more than happy if he continued,” she said.
“Well, I know that my father was very honored when they retired his number, but he also always respected the other players. And if JJ Watt had number 99 with him for a long time and that meant something to him, I think he I would be delighted to let you use the number and cancel your retirement or whatever the appropriate word is. “

She added that she thought her father would be “happy” if Watt used his number.
Watt agreed to a two-year deal worth $ 31 million, according to several reports. The NFL free agency 2021 start date is March 17 and the legal tampering period starts on March 15.
He announced his subscription on Twitter.
Watt ended his 10th season with the Texans, playing in all 16 games for the second time in five seasons. He recorded 52 tackles in total, five sacks and an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

He was released last month and has since posted photos of himself working and preparing for the 2021 season.
