President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden make room in their schedules every night for a dinner, without technology.

The First Lady spoke to Kelly Clarkson in an exclusive interview that aired on Thursday about the divorce, life at the White House, her scrunchie-style fashion statement and the Bidens’ family traditions.

“How did traditions in general really help your family? Because now you and President Biden have an evening date … do you have dinner every night?” Clarkson asked Biden.

The first lady replied, “He’s so busy, I’m so busy, but we keep dinner. We have dinner together, no phones – the phones have to be turned off – and now we’re having dinner in this beautiful house, and there’s a fireplace in the living room. dinner, and they light the fire, and we just sit and talk for a while. “

“And then he has to go back to work late into the night, and I’m correcting the work,” said Biden.

The First Lady told Clarkson that in addition to the evening meetings, she and the President are striving to continue having dinner with all family members on Sunday nights.

“We try to keep Sunday night dinners. I mean, I’ve been a little busy lately, but we still do that, and the kids are looking forward to it. I think traditions really motivate kids,” said Biden.

She added, “It was funny, recently, my granddaughters called me and said, Nana – and you know, I love having a beautiful table with candles and flowers or whatever I can find to put on it – and they said, ‘Nana, we are making our own dinner, and we are making it in the Nana style. We have our candles. ‘And so, a little bit of that has spread. I hope they continue with the traditions too. “

The talk show host and singer also asked Biden how she relaxes.

“I love to exercise and run, ride a bike – it clears my head, and this is very important to me,” said the first lady. “I think every woman should have something – it doesn’t have to be exercise, although hopefully it was – just to have a moment for herself. So I get up early, and this is my time for me.”
