Jets to make ‘waves’ at a free agency?

The free agency is coming, and tonight will be like Christmas Eve for NFL fans. The real action will start in the morning, but we are already beginning to receive reports on what is to come. The more we hear, the more it looks like Jets will be big players in what will be a very interesting market due to the reduction in the salary cap.

We’ve heard that the Jets will chase the Patriots’ guard Joe Thuney, and this is apparently not the only major target they are interested in. The expectation of sources around the league is that the Jets will “make waves” at the free agency, Connor Hughes of The Athletic tweets. GM Joe Douglas it is apparently ready to spend a lot and “there is absolutely no financial constraint for Douglas in this off-season,” writes Hughes.

Hughes goes on to say that Douglas “has the means and the green light to build a team any way he wants. That means looking for top-tier FAs and giving them top-tier $ if he wants to. ”In a separate tweet, Hughes says a source told him that the Jets “want the big guys”. When asked if it meant size or money, he replied “both”.

Thuney would certainly fit both criteria. Finally, Hughes tweets that although Douglas is “aggressive”, he will not be reckless and will have “his withdrawal numbers”. A source told Hughes that “Joe doesn’t despair”.
