The Jets reached an agreement with former Bengals pusher Carl Lawson, according to Ian Rapoport.
Lawson was a fourth round pick by the Auburn Bengals in 2017. His 20 sacks over four seasons in the NFL do not seem overwhelming, but there is more to Lawson than meets the eye. He posted prolific pressure numbers during his career. Although he may not attack the quarterback often, his hurried pass affects plays consistently.
The Edge Rusher has been a chronic need for Jets for a long time. Lawson alone will not solve all the problems, but I think it will help a lot. This appears to be an excellent first step in dealing with the pass rush.
Personally, I’ve been a fan of Lawson for a long time. I wanted the Jets to choose him in 2017 and since then I cheered for him from afar. Now we can all see him every Sunday.
