Singer Jessie J spent her “strange and non-traditional GREAT Christmas Eve” dealing with the symptoms of Ménière’s disease, a chronic disorder of the inner ear that took her to the hospital and resulted in rapid deafness in one of her ears during the long end holiday weekends.
The 32-year-old “Bang Bang” explained on Instagram that she woke up Thursday and felt “completely deaf” in her right ear. She couldn’t walk in a straight line and it sounded “like someone was trying to run out of my ear” when she sang out loud.
A representative for Jessie J did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the disorder can cause hearing loss and dizziness (vertigo). It usually affects an ear, beginning at any age, although it usually starts between young adulthood and middle age. Although there is no cure, several treatments can help relieve symptoms and minimize the long-term impact.
“I know that a lot of people suffer from it and, in fact, a lot of people came to me and gave me great advice, so I have been silent,” she added, according to ET Canada.
“This is the first time that I can sing and take it,” she said. “It could be much worse, it is what it is. I am very grateful for my health. It just baffled me. “
Jessie J said she spent Christmas Eve at the hospital, received medication and is feeling “much better”. Well enough, it seems, to post a video on her Sunday singing that “she can’t stop eating”.
His other activities included texting friends and family in England, smearing himself with coconut oil and again trying to watch the hit Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit” with a finger in his ear.
“I did the first episode 4 times because I [have] zero focus and my ear sounds like someone crawls and turns on a hair dryer, ”she wrote, adding:“ Sending LOVE to everyone who needs it, whether or not they are alone. We all need a little extra love. This Christmas can be a little strange. BUT one in life is not bad when some people have not had a good one in life. “
