JESS PHILLIPS: The problem with this bill is that it is trying – the government is trying to impose itself now on issues of violence against women and girls. But this bill, for me, is a letter of abuse. Because it does more to silence women who speak and protest against the lack of security than to protect us.

There is nothing about domestic violence in this. There is nothing about sexual violence in this. There is nothing about harassment on the streets. And now they have to get together in a small meeting last night and make a plan about CCTV and cops in skinny jeans in bars.

I just think they got caught up and should slow down this legislation, stop trying to divide the country over statues and start listening to how we can keep our streets safe. I want to work with them. But what [INAUDIBLE] I said yesterday, I mean, to be honest, he’s not speaking from experience like me.
