Jerry Seinfeld speaks in an interview with Larry King, where they seemed to be angry at each other

Jerry Seinfeld shared a touching tribute to Larry King that he touched in his infamous and embarrassing interview in 2007.

King died Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Ora Media, the studio and the network he co-founded, said in a statement. No cause of death was reported, but he was hospitalized with a COVID-19 infection, according to several media reports.

After his death, people have consulted old interview clips from the 87-year-old man’s decades of career. Among the clips that are getting renewed attention is one that went viral after Seinfeld appeared to be frustrated with a question about whether his hit show in the 1990s was canceled.

HOW THE TV LEGEND LARRY KING BEGAN WITH THE TRANSMISSION

Seinfeld joined the myriad of celebrities paying homage to the late interview icon on Twitter at the weekend, when he played the clip to note that it was all a joke.

“I’ve always loved Larry King and will miss him. The ‘canceled’ was just me having fun with his little mistake. Nothing more. Or less. #RipLarry,” He wrote.

At the time, Seinfeld was on CNN’s “Larry King Live” program to promote “Bee Movie” when King asked whether the comedian decided to end “Seinfeld” or whether NBC canceled the program.

“You gave up, right?” King asked. “You canceled them, they didn’t cancel you.”

“Aren’t you aware of that?” Seinfeld replied, looking frustrated. “Do you think I was canceled? Do you have the impression that I was canceled? I thought it was very well documented. Is it still CNN?

Seinfeld continued, “I went off the air, I was the number one television show, Larry. Do you know who I am?”

“Jewish. Brooklyn,” King joked back.

As Yahoo Entertainment notes, Jerry is not the only “Seinfeld” star to make fun of the late interviewer in a fun way. Some people on Twitter shared a clip of King interviewing Julia Louis-Dreyfus, where he asked her about having a “man’s name”, apparently confusing the hyphenate with the middle name.
